Bajo del Tigre Forest Reserve
You can enjoy a type of forest in Bajo del Tigre that is now scarce in Costa Rica. You will enjoy the transition zone between the cloud forest and the dry forest on the Pacific slope, where you will enjoy a great diversity of flora and fauna.
It is the perfect place for bird watching, including the bell bird (bird in danger of extinction), Toledo and the Aguilucho. The place is also home to a great diversity of mammals such as white-faced monkeys, agoutis, armadillos, coyotes, hammerheads, and several felines including councils and pumas.
We offer you:
- Self-Guided Walk (trail map and brochure written in four languages: Spanish, English, German, French)
- Guided Day Hike. With prior reservation; 2 hours (minimum 2 people)
- Guided Night Walk. At 5:30 PM every day, with previous reservation; 2 hours (minimum 2 people).
Access: to the parking for all types of vehicles.

Additional Information:
- Trails on natural surface, of different levels of difficulty (easy, moderate and difficult).
- For a day hike, we recommend wearing closed shoes, long pants, a jacket or raincoat, and water.
