La Amistad International Park
Main attractive:
- Cerro Cabecar: The visitor can appreciate the scenic beauty of the Térraba Valley, as well as several hills, including Chirripó and Dúrika. It has a high degree of difficulty. All visitors must be accompanied by a local tour guide, which is coordinated with the community of Santa María de Brunca, through the organized group Asociación Cámara Ecológica y de Turismo Santa María de Brunca.
- Cerro Kamuk: with a high degree of difficulty. Day walks are allowed on this trail from one to a maximum of nine visitors per day. All tourists must be accompanied by a local tour guide from the Tres Colinas de Potrero Grande Tourism Association. From the top of Cerro Kamuk you can see the Pacific and Caribbean coastline.
- Sabanas Esperanza: To get to the site , you must walk on a path of medium difficulty. Day walks are allowed individually or in groups of a maximum of 13 visitors per day, who must be accompanied by one of the local tour guides available through the Organized Women's Association of Biolley. Another characteristic that makes the place attractive is that it is an archaeological site (indigenous cemetery).
- Valle del Silencio: It takes between two to three days to complete the entire route. They allow individual day walks or in groups of a maximum of nine people, always accompanied by a local tour guide coordinated through the Association of Organized Women of Biolley.
- Los Gigantes del Bosque: It is an excellent trail for bird watching. Daytime walks with or without a guide, individual or in subgroups of seven people, are allowed on this trail, respecting a maximum of 28 visitors per day. At the beginning of the trail there is a camping area with basic facilities (sanitary services, water, food preparation site).
- La Cascada de Pittier: Cascade with three waterfalls. Daytime walks with or without a guide, individual or in subgroups of seven people, are allowed on this trail, respecting a maximum of 28 visitors per day. Due to strong water currents, slippery and sharp rocks, bathing in the waterfall or in the river is not a permitted activity.
- Río Canasta: a 4 km trail (in each direction). Daytime walks with or without a guide are allowed on this trail, respecting a maximum of 10 people per day. Due to strong water currents, slippery and sharp rocks, bathing in this river is not a permitted activity.
- Cerro Pittier: To get to Cerro Pittier, you must travel a 7.5 km trail that begins at the SINAC Operational Post located in Santa María de Pittier and ends at the top of Cerro Pittier. Daytime walks accompanied by a local guide are allowed. The total walk is 14 km and must be covered in a single day, since camping facilities are not allowed or exist on Cerro Pittier
