Tortuguero National Park
Attractions:
- Sea turtle observation program: in partnership with a local organization, turtle trackers are established, specialized people who detect turtles when they leave the sea. Visitors wait in waiting bases receiving valuable information until the turtle is in the spawning process and it is possible to observe. Spawning season from June to October.
- El Jaguar Land Trail: This linear trail runs 2.5 km parallel to the beach, being the trail used during the Turtle season. It is clearly demarcated with entrances to the beach every 100 meters and numbered from 37 to 60. During the spawning season, turtle tracks and nests can be seen. You can find animals such as hawks, monkeys, crosses and a large number of dragonflies and butterflies.
- Water trails:
- Canoe tour, electric motor and kayak:
- Sendero Caño Chiquero- Mora: This 2.3 km route is exclusively for non-polluting small boats. With dense and tall vegetation, occasionally the tolomuco can be seen there. Near 1,900 meters the trail is divided by what is known as Caño Chiquero and Caño Mora.
- Tour in motorboats:
- Tortuguero River Trail: This 4.3 km route is the gateway to the canal sector. It is possible to observe a variety of aquatic birds, amphibians and reptiles, as well as a large number of poponjoche trees, striking for their large flowers and fruits.
- Caño Harold Trail: 3.5 km route in a wide channel of calm waters that facilitates the observation of animals. Secondary forest predominates and you can even see some coconut and cocoa trees. Reptiles like turtles and alligators abound.

Every day from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 12:00 noon and from 1:00 p.m. to 4 p.m.
On the Cerro Tortuguero Trail, the visit is from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Ticket sales hours are from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
